Prone Drotops armatus with Long, Protruding Spines

Name: Drotops armatus
Age:  Devonian
Formation:  AM Limestone
Location:  Morocco
Size: Trilobite is 5.3 inches long
Price: SOLD

Specimen SSS961

This is an extremely spiny trilobite. It is a complete Drotops armatus from Morocco. This stunning specimen was prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. This impressive trilobite has many, many LONG free-standing spines protruding from the head, body, and tail. The bug is extremely inflated and 3-D and beautifully showcased on the sculpted matrix block. The colorful, thick shell exoskeleton of the trilobite is wonderfully detailed and very well preserved. The large, compound faceted eyes are amazingly intact and practically flawless - this is a very rare occurrence. This is a beautiful, top quality example of this large Moroccan ''Spiny Phacops''.
