Here is a wonderful example of an unusual fossil. This is Dictyonema sp., a graptolite, from the Silurian of New York. Dictyonema was a fan-like colony that attached to the bottom of the sea with a fibrous holdfast. This wonderful specimen shows the fan-like colony beautifully displayed. The fossil has excellent color and contrast. There are also brachiopod specimens at the top and bottom of the plate. This is a fine specimen of this enigmatic fossil.
