Specimen SSS938

Here is a spectacular fossil crinoid. This HUGE crinoid is Actinocrinites gibsoni from the Mississippian of Indiana. This sea lily is extremely inflated and exhibits excellent detail. The heavy, biserial arms are festooned with fine pinnules - these feathery pinnules are very easily seen. But the truly incredible feature of this crinoid is the EXTREMELY LONG, 3-dimensional stem that is tightly attached to the huge, stellate-plated cup and complete to the roots! The crinoid is wonderfully centered on the large, semi-oval plate of siltstone. This is a textbook fossil crinoid with very long stem and finely pinnulated arms preserved - one of the largest single examples of this type we have ever seen.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
