Incredible Multiple Plate of Enigmatic Eurypterids

This is spectacular Eurypterid fossil. It is a plate of FIVE Eurypterus remipes from the Silurian of New York. Eurypterus remipes is the State Fossil of New York, and is one of the most unusual arthropods in the fossil record. Eurypterids were thought to be one of the first aquatic animals to explore onto land. This amazing fossil has FIVE complete specimens preserved - all five have BOTH distinct paddles and ALMOST ALL of their ''walking arms'' intact (the specimen on the far left has its second paddle laying over its body). The extinct arthropods are naturally positioned and beautifully showcased on the large, rectangular block of waterlime. This is a one-of-a-kind Eurypterid fossil that is the best quality multiple plate that we have ever seen.
