This is a spectacular plate of SEVEN Ceraurus pleurexanthemus from the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry (WRQ) near Trenton Falls, New York. This type is one of the original trilobites that Charles D. Walcott and James Hall made famous a century ago! Three of the specimens on the plate are HUGE for this type - it is extremely unusual to have this many Ceraurus pleurexanthemus, this large on the same plate. It is also super rare to have all three large Ceraurus fossilized crawling in the same direction - in fact, SIX of the seven trilobites on the plate are facing ''up'', as the plate is displayed in the photos. The trilobites have great detail preserved, showcasing the pustulated, thick shell exoskeletons beautifully. The bugs are very well articulated and very well displayed on the large limestone plate - fully natural, no compositing! And there are dozens of other fossils on the plate - bryozoans, crinoid stems, other species of trilobites, etc. Anyone who knows anything about the history of US trilobites knows how important a multiple plate like this is. This is simply a one-of-a-kind fossil of SEVEN classic Ceraurus pleurexanthemus trilobites from New York State.

Note: The largest Ceraurus is preserved with its segments alternating, with each two ajoining pleurons paired together. We have never seen this strange atriculation before in trilobites.
