HUGE, Spectacular Selenopeltis with Long Spines

Name: Selenopeltis buchii
Age:  Ordovician
Formation:  Ktaoua Formation
Location:  Morocco
Size: Trilobite is 7.5 inches long!
Price: SOLD

Specimen SS990

This is a beautiful spiny trilobite. It is a fabulous Selenopeltis buchii from the Ordovician Layers of Morocco. This fossil was microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Preparation Lab here in Colorado. This trilobite was found in extremely dense sandstone - note the unusual texture of the matrix. The thick shell exoskeleton is very well preserved and contrasts wonderfully with the sculpted matrix block. This amazing bug is very 3-D and is aesthetically centered on the natural block of limestone. And the long spines are extremely symmetrical and display perfectly - this is incredibly rare feature for this type of trilobite. This is easily one of the best Selenopeltis buchii we have ever seen - and probably the largest!
