This is a very large Knightia humilis from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. The distinct fossil fish is well preserved and exhibits good detail. The eye socket is intact, and the fins and tail are easily seen. The open mouth is quite noticeable. The fish has dark coloration and contrasts nicely with the cream-colored rock. This is a very large example of a Knightia from the famous Green River Shale.
