Specimen SS102

This is an fabulous multiple crinoid plate from Gilmore City, Iowa. This classic location has been closed to collecting for a number of years. The plate has EIGHT LARGE crinoids on the slab (7 Eretmocrinus tentor and one Dichocrinus multiplex). The crinoids are beautifully displayed, many with the arms splayed open in textbook fashion. All of the crinoids have LONG stems preserved - some of the stems run the length of the plate! The fossil echinoderms have great color and contrast and are naturally positioned on the large, natural plate of limestone that also has a rare, unidentified ECHINOID on the lower right corner of the plate. This is one case where the photo does not do the fossil justice! This is one of the best display plates of Eretmocrinus we have ever seen from this classic locality. (The red dots are used for identification.)

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
