Very Rare Cambrian Trilobite with Recurved Spines

Name: Kingaspis sp.
Age:  Cambrian
Formation:  Al-Abet Beds
Location:  Morocco
Size: Trilobite is 1.2 inches long
Price: SOLD

Specimen SS119

This is a bizarre spiny trilobite. It is a complete Kingaspis sp. from Morocco. This specimen was prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Preparation Lab, as are ALL of our Moroccan trilobites. This is one of the only trilobites we know of that has forward pointing spines. Instead of a defensive feature, these spines may have been used for attack! This type is often ''created'' by the Moroccan handycrafters, adding fake spines to make more common types of trilobites look like this rare type. This specimen is complete with both spines intact. And, yes, THE SPINES ARE REAL! They have been prepared free-standing for maximum display. And remember, this is a CAMBRIAN trilobite, not Devonian like most spiny Moroccan trilobites. This is one of the few REAL Kingaspis trilobites you will ever see. It is one of the rarest and most collectible trilobites found in Morocco.
