Here is a very attractive specimen of Glyptocrinus decadactylus from the Ordovician of Kentucky. This crinoid is extremely inflated and exhibits excellent detail. This camerate crinoid has a large cup composed of numerous stellate plates, which are wonderfully displayed on this specimen. The long, thin, uniserial arms are beautifully splayed to reveal the numerous pinnules. A lengthy section of stem is still tightly attached to the cup. The cream-colored crinoid contrasts wonderfully with the grey matrix. The fossil is nicely presented on the natural plate. This is a very aesthetic example of this highly detailed Ordovician crinoid.
