This is a great specimen of Cactocrinus proboscidalis from the Lower Burlington Formation of Missouri. Most of the time, only the cup of this specimen is found - this specimen also preserves the tegmen. The crinoid is very inflated and perfectly centered on a rectangular block of limestone. It exhibits great detail. The stellate plates of the cup are beautiful. The plates of the tegmen are very spinose. The arm attachment points are readily observable. The white crinoid contrasts extremely well with the orangish-brown matrix. The rock also exhibits fragments of other crinoids. This is a wonderful specimen of this species of Cactocrinus.
