Here is a nice specimen of Rhadinocrinus dactylus from the famous Devonian slate of Germany. The quarries in this area produced slate for the roofing industry for many years. Now the quarries are closed and the only way to obtain the rare fossils from this site is through the dispersal of old collections. This piece was recently obtained from an old German collection. This pyritized crinoid has an extremely small cup with thin arms that bear long pinnules. The large anal sac is nicely displayed between the arms. An imprint of the stem is even present. The crinoid is nicely positioned on the large, rectangular plate of roofing slate. This is a classic Bundenbach crinoid replaced by golden pyrite.
