Specimen SS183

This is a beautiful trilobite association plate. It is a block with two fabulous Selenopeltis buchii and two immaculate Eudolatites sp. from the Ordovician of Morocco. This pristine fossil was meticulously prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab, as are all of our Moroccan trilobites. You may have seen multiple trilobite plates from Morocco before, but most are just made up of low-quality representations. This one is different - each trilobite is a textbook example! Each specimen on the plate is a complete, top-quality trilobite in its own right. The extinct arthropods are wonderfully articulated and exhibit excellent detail. The distinct fossils are also extremely inflated and 3-dimensionally preserved. The dark, orange-brown color of the trilobites contrasts strikingly with the light-colored, sculpted matrix. And best of all, this slab is not composited - all of the trilobites are natural to the plate! It is rare to have these two types of trilobites preserved on the same rock, but to have FOUR TOP QUALITY EXAMPLES fossilized together is practically unheard of.
