This is a museum quality example of a classic Solnhofen fossil. It is a large Mesolimulus walchi Horseshoe Crab from the famous Solnhofen Lithographic Limestone of Germany. Horseshoe crabs and dragonflies are probably the most demanded fossils from this site - and most fossils this nice are in museums. This specimen is absolutely fabulous - the meticulous preparation showcases the near-perfect preservation of the crab. The carapace is very inflated and 3-D and wonderfully articulated - it simply displays beautifully. This is a stunning specimen - it doesn't get any better than this! It is easily the best Mesolimulus fossil we have ever had.
