This is a beautiful fossil leaf. It is a rare Ginkgo digitata leaf from the Tranquille Shale of Canada. This leaf is extremely dissected with many individual lobes and has dichotomous venation. A very long, aesthetically curving petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The leaf has excellent color and contrast and is nicely presented on the natural plate of shale that also contains a partial leaf of a different type on the reverse side. This is an outstanding specimen of this highly collectible leaf from the Eocene.
