Here is a very displayable crinoid. This is a large Scyphocrinites sp. from the Silurian of Morocco. This robust crinoid has a huge cup composed of many, many stellate plates. The extremely long, multi-branching arms seem to go on forever. The arms are uniserial in nature and exhibit the fine pinnules beautifully. A lengthy portion of the stem is still intact. The three-dimentional crinoid contrasts strikingly with the reddish-brown matrix. The crinoid is well presented on the large plate of matrix that is loaded with other crinoid fragments. This is a very fine example of a large, Silurian crinoid.
