Here is a nice Canadian crinoid. This is Archaeocrinus sp. from the Ordovician of Ontario. This type of crinoid has a large cup composed of many plates and multi-branching, biserial arms. The plate structure of this specimen is wonderfully defined, and some of the pinnulated arms are even present. An extremely long, rounded stem is still tightly attached to the crinoid. The cream-colored crinoid contrasts nicely with the gray matrix. The fossil is beautifully centered on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is an attractive specimen of this very old ''sea lily'' from Canada.
