Here is a plate of four Devonian brachiopods positioned on a plate of matrix. These are Mucrospirifer sp. from the famous quarry at Sylvania, Ohio. These "winged" brachiopods are very 3-dimensional and exhibit nice detail. Both valves of each brachiopod are intact. The fossil "lampshells" are very ornamented and display the fine growth lines in wonderful fashion. This is an interesting presentation of Mucrospirifer brachiopods from the Silica Shale.
