Here is a fabulous specimen of a very rare leaf from the Green River Shale. This unusual leaf is Triumfetta ovata - one of only a few that we have ever seen. This leaf exhibits incredible detail. The venation of the leaf is beautifully preserved - even the small tertiary veins are clearly defined. This odd-shaped leaf displays smooth, entire margins and an acuminate apex. The short petiole of the leaf is still attached. The fossil has fantastic color and superb contrast. The Triumfetta is almost perfectly centered on the natural matrix plate. This is a super specimen of an extremely scarce Triumfetta leaf from the Eocene.
