This is a rare fossil starfish. It is an unidentified starfish from New York State. This specimen is Silurian in age, which is unusual in itself. Four of the arms have good detail, the fifth arm has been restored. There is also a bryozoan colony preserved on the plate. This is a very unusual find, and a must for the Rochester Shale collector.
