This is probably the nicest specimen of Acer lesquereuxi we have ever been able to offer. This fantastic maple leaf is from the Eocene of Utah. Maple leaves are very uncommon from this site - and a maple leaf preserved this well is extremely rare. The leaf has all five lobes beautifully defined and the toothed margins are easily seen. The strong venation of the leaf is evident and the petiole is still attached. The fossil has outstanding color and contrast. It is almost perfectly centered on the natural plate of matrix. This is an extremely displayable fossil maple leaf from the Green River Formation.
