Here is one of the most displayable leaves we have ever offered for sale. At first glance, this almost appears to be a Populus leaf. However, it is actually a fabulous specimen of the rare Aleurites glandulosa. This beautiful specimen is from the Eocene of Utah. The large leaf is complete and exhibits wonderful detail. The strongly undulating (almost lobed) margins of the leaf are complete and the tiny tip of the leaf is intact. The venation is well defined - the looping secondary veins are very evident. The completeness of the leaf combined with the EXTREMELY long petiole make for an outstanding display of this unusual leaf. The fossil has great color and contrast and is almost perfectly centered on the large, natural plate of shale. By the way, there are at least seven fossil mosquitoes also on the plate. This is a very collectable leaf that would look fantastic in any collection.
