This is an incredible crinoid fossil. It is a huge plate of Traumatocrinus hsuixi from China. This type of crinoid is Triassic in age - very few crinoids are found in the Triassic. There are five large crinoid crowns and MANY stems covering the plate. Most of the crinoid crowns are preserved in the aesthetic ''sunburst'' pattern. Imagine how the sea floor bottom must have looked when this garden of ''sea lillies'' was blooming!
This multiple slab has the best of both worlds - it is large and it is detailed. It is one of the best display plates of crinoids we have ever had. It is an extremely impressive example of this large Mesozoic crinoid.
