This is a large specimen of Populus sp., a poplar leaf, from the Miocene of Germany. This fossil leaf exhibits good detail. The crenate margins of the leaf are nicely displayed. The alternate venation is easily seen. The petiole of the leaf is still attached. The fossil has nice color and contrast. It is well positioned on the semi-rectangular plate of matrix. This is a fine poplar leaf from an unusual location.
