This is a very nice specimen of Quercus cuneatus, an oak leaf, from the Eocene of Utah. Oak leaves are very rare from this site. This leaf exhibits the distinctive lobed margins typical of the species. The attenuate base of the leaf is nicely displayed. The venation is quite evident. The fossil plant has great color and contrast. It is well positioned on the natural plate of shale. This is a great specimen of an uncommon oak leaf from the Green River Formation.
