Here is a very good specimen of Populus sp., a poplar leaf, from the Miocene of Germany. This fossil leaf exhibits fine detail. The crenate margins of the leaf are wonderfully displayed and the alternate venation is easily seen. The very tip of the leaf is present and the petiole of the leaf is quite evident. The fossil has excellent color and contrast. It is well positioned on the plate of matrix. This is a very interesting poplar leaf from an unusual location.
