This is a great little spider fossil. It is a Cretaceous spider (Araneae) from Brazil. A spider is an arachnid, which is not a true insect. This specimen has the mandibles and legs visible. There is no restoration or color added to this specimen. A spider preserved on shale is RARE, and this is a very fine example.
