This is an extremely displayable vertebrate fossil. It is a complete skull and lower jaws from the extinct Ice Age Cave Bear, Ursus uralensis. Cave Bears were the largest member of the bear family and the chief animal hunted by Neanderthal Man. Cave Bear material is getting harder to find - most of the caves have been discovered and heavily collected. This adult skull is very large (18 inches) and beautifully articulated. The jaws have the full complement of teeth intact. The mouth-open, ''roaring'' pose is both awesome and frightening. A specimen like this could be the centerpiece of a fossil collection, or showcased in one's home or office. It would be hard to find a more impressive display fossil, especially for the price.
