This is a nice plate of two different fossil leaves. This plate is from the Eocene of Utah. The leaf on the left is Zelkova nervosa (keaki tree). The lanceolate leaf displays the dentate margins. The leaf on the right is Salix cockerelli (willow). This long, narrow leaf has very slightly serrated margins. It exhibits a strong midvein. The petiole is present on this leaf. Both fossils have good color and contrast. They are well positioned on the natural block of shale. This is an interesting specimen of two different fossil leaves on the same matrix plate.
