Here is a very interesting specimen of Paleozoic cephalopods. This is a nice multiple plate of Lituites littuus from the Ordovician of China. This type of cephalopod grows in a coiled pattern at the beginning and then straightens out. There are four specimens of this cephalopod on the rectangular slab of matrix. They are preserved in a very 3-dimensional manner. The straight-line sutures are very distinct and the individual chambers of the shells are clearly defined. The fossils have nice color and contrast. They are well positioned on the rectangular plate of matrix. This is a very displayable specimen of these strange-looking cephalopods.
