This is simply a beautiful fossil. It is a multiple plate of Ophiopetra brittlestars from the Solnhofen fossil beds of Germany. This plate has two complete stars and two partials represented. The most striking feature about these starfish is their long, curling arms. All four of these specimens showcase this feature beautifully. The arms also have many spikes and spines on them - amazing detail when viewed under magnification. The large display plate is solid and dense - never been cracked or broken. This is one of the most aestetic plates of fossil brittlestars we have seen. It is a wonderful display fossil from the famous Solnhofen limestone quarry.
