This is a nice multiple plate of Stenaster salteri from the Ordovician of Canada. This type of starfish is commonly called a ''button star''. Multiple specimens of these starfish are quite unusual. There are four examples of Stenaster on this slab. The starfish exhibit excellent detail - the plate structure is beautifully defined. These fossil echinoderms have very good color and contrast and are well presented on the rectangular plate of limestone that also contains an interesting bryozoan colony. This is a very striking multiple plate of these rare starfish.
