This is a very pretty specimen of an unusual leaf. This is Osmanthus praemissa from the Eocene of Utah. The lanceolate leaf exhibits very fine detail. The midvein is very strong. The leaf nicely displays alternate secondary venation. The short petiole is present. The fossil has great color and superb contrast. It is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular block of shale. This is a very aesthetic specimen of this rare leaf.
