Here is a fine specimen of a fossil Poplar leaf. This specimen is from the Eocene of Colorado. The leaf exhibits superb detail. The venation is fabulous. Even the tertiary venation is easily seen. The attenuate tip of the leaf is present. The crenate margins of the leaf are nicely displayed. The leaf retains a lengthy petiole. The fossil has great color and fine contrast. It is well centered on the natural matrix plate. This is a very displayable specimen of Populus wilmattae from the Green River Shale.
