Due to their delicate nature, flowers are very rare in the fossil record. This is a very distinct specimen of a fossil flower from the Eocene of Utah. This flower is extremely well preserved in an oblique top view - the six petals of the flower are easily seen. The fossil flower has wonderful, totally natural color and contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored matrix. It is well positioned on the 1.8" X 2.2" plate of shale. This is an excellent example of this unusual, six-petaled flower from the Green River Formation.
