Here is a nice specimen of an unusual fossil fish from the Eocene of Wyoming. This is Amphiplaga bracyptera from the Green River Formation. This fossil fish is complete and exhibits very fine detail. The fish has great bone structure and the fins are beautifully displayed. The eye socket of the fish is easily seen and the open mouth adds a touch of charm. The fish has good orangish-brown color and contrasts extremely well with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil is nicely centered on the rectangular plate of matrix. This is a very good specimen of this scarce fish.
