Here is an extremely rare leaf from the Eocene of Utah. This is a HUGE specimen of Lindera varifolia. This is the largest example of this leaf that we have ever seen. This leaf is complete and exhibits fine detail. The entire margins are intact and the venation of the leaf is clearly defined. This unusual leaf still has a very distinct petiole attached. This fossil has good color and contrast. It is almost perfectly centered on the large, natural plate of matrix. This is an outstanding example of a highly uncommon Lindera leaf from the Green River Shale.
