Here is an extremely rare fossil fish from the Jurassic of Germany. This is a nice specimen of Ascalabus voithi from the world-famous Solnhofen Limestone. The fish is complete and shows very fine detail. The vertebral column is beautifully displayed. The fish has good bone structure and the fins are nicely exhibited. The fossil is somewhat outlined by pyrolusite dendrites. The fish is well centered on a rectangular block of limestone. This is a very nice example of a very rare fish from this classic deposit of lithographic limestone.
