This is a stunning shark tooth that we recently acquired from a major shark tooth collection. It is a large Carcharocles megalodon tooth from the Miocene. This specimen was found near the mouth of the Rappahanock River in Virginia. The tooth is quite robust and very heavy. The root of the tooth is complete and very solid. The sharp serrations are clearly defined, and the very tip of the tooth is almost perfectly intact. The tooth has the classic wide, arrowhead-like shape. Both the enamel and root of this tooth are light black, giving the tooth a bold look. Both sides of the tooth display beautifully. This is a highly collectible shark tooth from an unusual location.
