This is an excellent fossil shark tooth from a major collection. It is a large Carcharocles megalodon shark tooth from Aurora, North Carolina. Megalodon teeth from North Carolina are very scarce, since fossil collecting in the Lee Creek Mine was drastically curtailed a few years ago. This robust tooth exhibits superb detail. The root is very solid and substantial, and the very tip of the tooth is wonderfully intact. The razor-sharp serrations are almost perfectly preserved and beautifully displayed. The shiny enamel of the tooth has gorgeous coloration. Both sides of the tooth are just exquisite. It is extremely difficult to get a shark tooth of this size and quality from anywhere. This is a very collectible shark tooth from the famous Lee Creek Mine of North Carolina.
