Here is a wonderful crinoid that we recently obtained from a major echinoderm collection. This is Cactocrinus glans from the Mississippian of Missouri. Many species of Cactocrinus are found in the Lower Burlington Formation, but this is the only species of Cactocrinus found in the Upper Burlington. This crinoid is quite large for the type and extremely 3-dimensional. The nodose plates are beautifully displayed and the arm attachment points are easily seen. The white crinoid contrasts well with the brownish matrix. It is almost perfectly centered on the rounded plate. This is a great example of this Upper Burlington crinoid.
