Here is a wonderful fossil fish from the Green River Formation. This is a large (almost 8 inches) Priscacara serrata from the Eocene of Wyoming. This type is very sought-after because of its recognizable look - similar to a modern-day Bluegill or Crappie. This specimen exhibits great bone structure, and the fins are beautifully displayed. The sharp spikes of the large dorsal fin are all intact and easily seen. The fossil has great color and contrast and is well centered on the large, unbroken, rectangular plate. This is an excellent example of this ''wide-bodied'' fish from the Fossil Lake deposits.
