Here is an interesting assemblage of fossils. This plate is from the Silurian of Indiana. There are three complete specimens and one partial specimen of Holocystites scutellatus. These cystoids are extremely inflated and exhibit fine detail. The plates of these primitive echinoderms are very pustulose. Two of the cystoids retain the short, complete stem. There is also an unidentified brachiopod and three unidentified, solitary corals on the plate. The fossils have good color and contrast. This is a unique example of fossils from the Silurian sea of Indiana.
