This is a highly collectible fossil shark tooth. It is an excellent Carcharocles megalodon shark tooth from North Carolina. Megalodon teeth from North Carolina are becoming very scarce, since public fossil collecting was sharply curtailed a few years ago. This tooth is unusual in that it is wider than it is tall, meaning it came from the back of the shark's jaw. The tooth has great serrations and a nice tip. The root is robust and beautifully preserved. The other side of the tooth displays as well or better than the side pictured. This is a fabulous specimen of a Lee Creek tooth that is wider than it is tall.
