Here is a nice fish from the Solnhofen Limestone of Germany. This lithographic limestone is well known for the fantastic preservation of the rare fossils that are occasionally encountered. The head, body, tail, and fins of the fish are all present. The bone structure is well defined and the eye socket is easily seen. The brown fossil contrasts nicely with the light-colored matrix. The fish is almost perfectly centered on the rectangular plate. This is a very good example of a fossil fish from this famous Jurassic limestone.
