Here is a gorgeous ''round'' of petrified wood from the Triassic of Madagascar. Araucaria is closely related to the modern-day monkey-puzzle tree. This is a complete cross-section of the trunk or large limb of this fossil tree. This thick slab has been highly polished to reveal the fine detail and wonderful coloration of the fossil wood. Even the grain of the petrified wood can be seen. The ''bark'' on the circumference of the slab is clearly defined. The size of the slice and the gorgeous, natural coloration make for an exciting display of this petrified wood from the Triassic.
