Here is an extremely aesthetic plate of fossil fish from the Eocene of Wyoming. There are two different fish on this slab of shale. On the left side of the plate is a nice example of Knightia humilis. A large specimen of Diplomystus dentatus is on the right side of the slab. Both fish have very fine detail. The bone structure of the fish is quite apparent and the fins are wonderfully displayed. The dark brown fish contrast nicely with the multi-colored, "swirling" matrix. The fossils are beautifully positioned on the large, rectangular plate of shale that also contains several fish coprolites. This is a very "showy" specimen of two different fossil fish fossilized together. This plate could be framed for a gorgeous display for home or office.
