Here is a very pretty plate of leaves from the Eocene of Utah. There are two leaves on this slab of Green River Shale. Both of the leaves belong to Zelkova nervosa or the Keaki Tree. These lance-shaped leaves have dentate margins with wedge-shaped bases and acute apexes. The leaves are characterized by a very prominent midvein and weak secondary venation. Both of these plant fossils have very nice color and contrast wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. They are well positioned on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a fine multiple plate of Zelkova from the Green River Shale.
