Here is an exciting plate of fossils from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, fossils from this area are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. There are two different organisms wonderfully preserved on this slab. On the left side of the plate is a complete Armigatus brevissimus. This fish exhibits the bone structure very nicely. On the right side of the slab is Carpopenaeus septemspinatus. This rare species of shrimp displays superb detail. The segmented carapace is quite evident. Even the legs and antennae are easily seen. The fossils have great color (some enhancement for contrast) and are well positioned on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is an excellent association plate of two different animals from the Cretaceous sea.
