This is a very displayable specimen of Knightia humilis from the Eocene of Wyoming. There are two complete fish on the plate. Both fossil herring exhibit fine detail. The eye sockets are easily seen and the fins are nicely displayed. The fish have good bone structure and much of the scale pattern is preserved. The dark brown fish contrast beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. The fossils are well presented on the large rectangular plate of shale that is suitable for framing. This is a very good plate of fossil fish from the Green River Formation.
